Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Unspiral iOS app, Unspiral's Movie Mode service, and Unspiral's official website (together, the “Services”). It does not govern third-party websites you choose to visit through Unspiral.

2. Information handled on your device

Unspiral stores the following information locally so the app can remember how you configured it:

• Your quieter-site preferences, default launch destination, break length, Locked In preference, and similar app settings.
• Your Movie Mode display name and a randomly generated device identifier. The identifier is not an advertising identifier and is used only to distinguish participants and hosts in Movie Mode.
• Website cookies, login state, and other website data created when you browse third-party sites in Unspiral's embedded browser. Apple's WebKit stores this information on your device on behalf of those sites.

When you grant Screen Time access, Apple provides Unspiral with privacy-preserving selections for the apps or categories you choose. Unspiral uses those selections to apply the break you request. We do not transmit your Screen Time selections to our servers.

3. Movie Mode information

Movie Mode needs a small amount of information to open a room and keep participating phones in sync:

• Room code, host display name, random device identifier, requested duration, Locked In setting, and room creation/start/end times.
• While a room is open, participant display names, Ready status, host status, and whether each device is currently able to start a break. This presence information is sent in real time and is not added to the persistent lobby record.
• Basic network information, such as IP address and request timing, may be processed in service logs for security and reliability.

Movie Mode is provided using Supabase's hosted database and realtime infrastructure. Lobby records expire after 12 hours; if a room starts, its availability may be extended through one hour after its scheduled end. Expired records are made unavailable and are deleted as the service reaps expired rooms. A host can also close an unstarted room, which deletes its lobby record.

4. App analytics

Unspiral uses PostHog to collect limited product analytics from the iOS app. The SDK assigns a random analytics identifier and may collect:

• Progress through onboarding and whether Screen Time access was granted, denied, or skipped.
• Whether an app selection was made and aggregate counts of selected apps and categories. App names, category names, and Apple's Screen Time selection tokens are not collected.
• Which supported website was opened and whether it was opened from Home, Settings, a widget, a default launch choice, or a Screen Time shield. Activity inside the web view is not collected.
• If you choose to submit the in-app Feedback form, whether it is general feedback or a bug report, the email address you enter, and your message. The feedback event uses the same random analytics identifier as your other app events so we can understand the relevant product context. The email is added to that PostHog person profile so we can recognize and respond to you; the message remains specific to the feedback event.
• If the native app crashes, diagnostic information such as the exception type, stack trace, app version and build, iOS version, and device model. The crash report is stored on the device and sent after the app is opened again. Crash reporting does not enable session replay or collect screens, touches, console logs, network requests, or activity inside the webview.
• Technical information such as app version and build, iOS version, device model and type, screen dimensions, locale, time zone, network connection type, timestamps, and IP address or approximate location derived from it if enabled in our PostHog project settings.

We use this information to understand onboarding completion and feature adoption, diagnose broad usage patterns and native crashes, review feedback, respond when appropriate, and improve the app. Product analytics are not identified with your name, email address, advertising identifier, or Movie Mode display name unless you choose to submit feedback; submitting feedback associates the email and message you provide with the same random analytics identifier used for your other app events and adds the email to that PostHog person profile. We disable PostHog's automatic lifecycle, screen-view, element-interaction, and session-replay capture. We do not send Screen Time selections, selected app names, third-party webpage content or URLs, browsing history within the webview, other form entries, cookies, or login information to PostHog.

5. Third-party websites

Unspiral can open websites operated by companies such as Instagram, YouTube, X, Reddit, and LinkedIn. Those services receive information directly from your browser just as they would in Safari, and their own privacy policies govern their collection and use. Unspiral's interface changes do not change your relationship with those services.

6. Website information

This marketing website does not use advertising cookies or an analytics SDK. Our website hosting and delivery providers, including OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, may process standard request information to deliver, secure, and operate the website. This information can include your IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, and timestamps.

7. How we use information

We use the limited information described above only to provide the features you request, keep Movie Mode synchronized, remember your settings, understand app usage, improve the Services, maintain security, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and comply with law. We do not use it to build an advertising profile.

8. When information is shared

We disclose information only to service providers that help operate the Services, when you direct us to interact with a third-party site, when required by law, or when necessary to protect people and the integrity of the Services. Our current providers include Supabase for Movie Mode, PostHog for app analytics, and OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare for website hosting and delivery. We require service providers handling information for us to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. Retention and deletion

Local app preferences remain until you change them, reset the relevant feature, clear website data, or delete the app. Apple's system-managed Screen Time settings may sometimes persist independently; Unspiral includes reset controls to clear restrictions it can identify.

Movie Mode retention is described in Section 3. Analytics information is retained according to our PostHog project settings and only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy. Operational and security logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, debugging, legal compliance, and service reliability.

10. Your choices

• You can revoke Unspiral's Screen Time access in iOS Settings.
• You can change selected apps, end an ordinary break, clear Unspiral's restrictions, and manage quieter-site settings in the app. A Locked In break cannot be ended early after you confirm it.
• You can clear third-party website data by clearing website data in the app or removing the app.
• You can ask a question or request deletion of information we control by emailing support@momolith.com. Because Unspiral has no accounts and analytics identifiers are pseudonymous, we may need information from your device to locate a record. Include a Movie Mode room code and approximate date only if relevant; do not send sensitive information.

11. Children

Unspiral is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can address it.

12. Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No system is perfectly secure. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, subject to their legal safeguards.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services evolve. We will post the revised policy here, change the effective date, and provide additional notice when required by law.
